WRRC Boogie Woogie World Cup

The President of the World Rock ‘n’ Roll Confederation (WRRC), Miriam Kerpan Izak, writes about the Boogie Woogie World Cup in Maribor:

The 2009 World DanceSport Championship Latin in Maribor (SLO) featured together with a Boogie Woogie World Cup on a memorable night. Boogie Woogie was a nice contrast to the elegant Latin couples and brought a special energy to the hall.

Slovenia is a country with a long tradition of Acrobatic Rock ’n’ Roll, but this has been the first time that we have hosted a Boogie Woogie event. In the evening part the top 12 couples presented themselves in the semifinal with KO system and six winners and one “best looser” went on to the final. Brilliant music interpretation, innovative dance moves and romantic slow variations pleased the capacity crowd in Maribor.

The reigning World Champions, Maeva Truntzer and Wiliam Mauvais from France, convinced the judges and audience in the hall that they are really the best. The couples enjoyed the special World Championship atmosphere and were delighted by a flawless organisation.  The event has proven once again that such combined competitions are a great success and have a really promising future.
